For more than a decade (wow…it really has been that long hasn’t it?)…I’ve put up my my Happy Belated Holiday page. So…why mess with tradition?
So…in it’s original unchanged form, here is Karl’s Belated Holiday Greetings.

On the Big Alaska Show today I met Jason Hahn, creator of the Alaska Outlaw Playing Cards.
Based upon the infamous “Bush Cards” outlining all the characters of the Bush Administration, he has laid out our past & present outlaws…many of which I did not know were Alaskan (i.e. Robert Strout – the Birdman of Alcatraz).
Regardless. The cards are so cool (I especially loved the card for Floyd Kaleak) I will most likely buy a second set, so I can show off the cards while keeping a pristine set!
Unfortunately…the initial prinitng was so popular that they’re out. Luckily, you can preorder for the next batch.

It can be considered the end of a Dynasty. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, wife of Gene Roddenberry – creator of Star Trek – and best known as “Nurse Chapel” in the original TV series has died at the age of 76.
To us “Trekkers” she was known as so many things….
-The female voice of the computer (in all of the series and movies…she was even able to complete the voice characterization for the new Star Trek film)
-The first officer in the original pilot – later redone in the series as The Menagerie
Lwaxana Troi in the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine
-Nurse Christina Chapel (later as Dr. Chapel in Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Voyage Home
Not many people knew her role in both the original series and later expansion of the ST universe. She was at one point hailed as “The First Lady of Trek.”
In my mind that is how I will always remember her.
In one respect it would have been so interesting to see her in the role as executive officer of the enterprise, however in 1966 the studio thougt that would be too much for the audience to consume (though bee hive hairdoos, bikini’s and mini skirts were OK).
In one respect that allowed the series to be what we know it now…a multicultural/multiracial crew exploring the stars for the betterment of humanity, creating the modern mithos that is Star Trek.
We will miss you as much as we do Gene. I was always awed at how you and Gene always made us dreamy eyed fans feel special whenever we were around.
Rest in peace

So…
I am checking out apps for my iTouch when I come across Automattic’s wordpress blogging application.
So…
I downloaded the app, and tested it & so I have written this to test it out.
Not too shabby being able to write from my garage…
Until further notice (actually, until I figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it), I am taking down the photo gallery.
I recently upgraded the site to WordPress 2.7 and NextGen 1.0.1. Something has gone wrong and I’m attempting to resolve it.
Once I do the gallery will be back online.

It’s AM radio…talk radio to boot.
I have become a regular for the Big Alaska Show on AM 750 (KFQD). I guess when you’re a “geek with a personality” that has a face for radio, as well as being a “chatty Cathy” to boot…it’s RADIO TIME!
Except for the damn farmer’s hours (need to be at the station by 8:30am on a FRIGGIN Saturday) and the fact that there is NO COFFEE it’s a fun gig.
Check out the website: http://www.bigalaskashow.com to listen to podcasts (direct link: http://www.bigalaskashow.com/2008/10/31/podcats/59/). I recommend the October 27th Podcast (it’s the one where I do a fun commercial with the TBA theatre crew) myself.
