I’ll Be At The Jerry Lewis Telethon…

And I hope you will be willing to give during the telethon.

I help because when I meet these wonderful children, I see children who are not angry or hampered by their affliction. They are full of spirit, life and enjoy everything that all children do.

They were the people who taught me that a wheelchair is an enabler rather than a detractor.

At MDA summer camp the children become for a week, just another kid. “When everyone is the same no one is special.” These children are able to play soccer, ride in boats, ride horses, get rides in motorcycles (sidecars), and classic cars. It’s a fun time for everyone involved (and yes, pranks abound like every other camp).

The other side of camp is the break for the family. The child requires constant care and for that week they get a break. Please understand, none of the parents are upset (and some even feel guilty during the break), but imagine that for only one week a year you are able to sleep in late, go out to a resturant as a couple, etc.

These children need our help to cure the neuromuscular diseases that cut their lives so short.

So you know…MDA’s programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors. MDA seeks no government grants, United Way funding or fees from those it serves. It’s truly from contributions for people like you and me.

Who’s Running My State – The Questions Continue…

I learned later that morning that for us Alaskans, the line of succession actually goes from our Governor and Lt. Governor to Talis Colbert, Alaska’s Attorney General (then to John Harris).

That has had me wondering ever since about that choice.

Why would third in line be someone who has never been elected and has no political experience?

I mean…is there no one from the Senate or House able to run in the Governor’s stead? It makes for a bad impression of our elected state officials – especially in light of the ongoing ethics issues.

We would have a special election, regardless, so why not put someone other than an “administrator” in the big chair?

So….Who’s Going to Run my State?!?!?

Our Lt. Govenor is in a dead heat for the Republican nomination for Congress. The mayor of our largest city is now the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.

This morning, our Govenor is announced as the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate for the 2008 election!

So I ask again…who’s running this train?!?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud to see our Govenor picked for the VP spot. It puts Alaska squarely in the national limelight in a POSITIVE way for a change, and let’s be honest – McCain needed to have something to edge out the “Historic” Democratic ticket.

However, all that aside…who the HELL is going to keep Alaska’s government going?!?!?

If Sean wins the primary (and he’s behind by less than 150 votes at the time I am writing this), then it invariably should fall on the John Harris, Speaker of the House (http://www.housemajority.org/harris/index.php) but it’s normally not expected to happen.

It makes me wonder about all these “new” politicians and their loyalty to the people who put them in office.

Time to sit and think about this one over a glass of some refreshing recreational beverage.

Which in the end…is much better than the ol’ TIN FOIL HAT!

I Could Not Have Written It Better Myself

Obama’s VP pick: A triumph of no-change politics I’ve been sitting around wondering why neither Obama or McClain have come forward with their choices for Vice President. With Obama, we now know why. I mean, just what kind of CHANGE will his “Longtime Washington Insider” running mate bring to the ticket?!? I mean, isn’t it kinda scary that McCain, Rice and other republicans are feeling positive about the Democratic VP nominee? Maybe it’s just me. Now I’ll wait to see who McCain picked this Friday. His birthday gift to himself (at 72, what else do you get yourself?).

So There I am Working On The Server AGAIN….

Now that I have sold my company (http://www.apexalaska.com), I figured I should move my personal sites off the now OTS company web servers (just doing the right thing and all).

So I get myself a real server – http://www.karlspace.com – and move the sites and everything is working….and then I forget to fix a configuration for this site.

So ONCE AGAIN, leray.us is again offline <sigh>.

Luckily this should be the last move for the site for hopefully quite some time.

Yes…but they’re CLEAVAGE FILTERED!

Bored of the ordinary nuts you find at grocery stores & bars? Well Dee Williams of Dees Nuts agrees.

Their story begins when an errant nut falls between the ample cleavage of a female friend. Dee ate the nut and discovered the hallowed journey had somehow made it tastier!

Now Dee Nuts’ cycles every nut between the breasts of a beautiful woman. Originally processed by hand using beer mugs to scoop the nuts, Dee’s has come a long way in developing the latest in cleavage filtering technology. Today, every nut is processed through the DOUBLE DEE 600 mobile filtering unit.

See and believe for yorself at www.deesassortednuts.com.
