Saw Wanda Sykes live tonight. She was led by Keith Robinson who, in his own right was also damn funny. Keith had me rolling on things from being a dad with a teenager.
I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in quite a long time.
Wanda hit on several hilarious points as well as several truisms. My favorite of the night was “If we elect Obama, then black people won’t have the old excuse anymore. I mean, what’s a brother going to say in jail from now on? I was put here by…uh…GLOBAL WARMING?!?”
Her views of civil liberties, homeland security, the war in Iraq, the Bush administration and growing old were just great.
It reminded that there is healing power in laughter.
I had brought my book by her Yeah, I Said It! in the hopes I might get it signed, but alas it was not meant to be.
Regardless it’s OK…Wanda was worth it.
