New Orleans is gone; Get it through your head!!!!

Why are we even thinking about rebuilding a city that has been completely destroyed? Why would we throw away the funds to rebuild a city that has NO chance to survive the next flood? Where’s the logic?

I am sorry for the loss of life, I am sorry for the few people of New Orleans, who were working and building a life for themselves, but these are also the people who will make it through somewhere else. These are the people who will start over stronger and smarter. The rest of the population is primarily those who don’t work, and have been living on welfare for 2-3 generations. HELLO!! Welfare is not supposed to be a living. Welfare was designed to assist those who needed a little extra just to get through a tough period. Those who live solely on welfare for extended periods of time, contribute NOTHING to our society. Call me heartless, but I have more respect for the guy who scrubs toilets for minimum wage, while going to school to better his situation and receives a welfare check to help until he is done; than those who do nothing more than drink, shoot or smoke their check away, and pump out kids like it was a race.

New Orleans is way below sea level and sinking. I don’t care what kind of levee you construct; eventually it will be destroyed again. Save the money and draw up new maps. Throughout the United States, there are plenty of buildings that are not being used for anything. These structures can be renovated to accommodate those who need a place to live. Also, there is no shortage of jobs in America, just a shortage of those educated to fill them. I say train those who want to work and forget those who don’t. Why continue to enable those who have nothing to offer but misery to themselves and everyone around them.

Now I know what you’re thinking; “what about the children who do not have the choice?” I guess that we need to remove them from the situation. Obviously they are in imminent danger of becoming just another statistic for liberals to justify raising taxes. Bill O’Reilly from Fox News hit the nail on the head, when he said that these kids need to see what happens to those who are not educated. Show these kids the raw footage of the devastation of Katrina and the chaos caused by thugs and hooligans in its aftermath. Let them see what happens to those who refuse to take the initiative to be self reliant.

Our government is not a “Sugar Daddy.”

Just STOP IT!!!!

I am so sick and tired of the latest Bush bashing over Katrina.  Are we
such a people as to forget our fellows in need that we need to continually play
the blame game?

To those who are using the tragedy for personal gain – stop it!

To those who are using the tragedy for race gain – STOP IT!

To those who are using the tragedy for monetary gain – STOP IT!

To those who are using the tragedy for political gain –
STOP IT!

We have people without homes, we have people who have lost brothers,
sisters, mother, fathers, cousins, husbands, wives and friends.  We have
children lost and alone (last count 220 displaced children, mostly infants).

We have REAL heroes like six year old Deamonte Love who saved
himself and 6 other toddlers (the incredible story:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9230423/
).

Since hurricane Camille (1969), we’ve never had destruction on a scale like
this.

Could you imagine if the effort being used to protest was diverted to the relief
effort?

I’m sorry as anyone that people did not have any vehicles to get out in time,
however did you drive down there?  Did you send gas?  Did you
send money for a rental vehicle?!?!?

Mistakes were made and we will work towards a solution…but until this
has passed:

STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill To End Discrimination Against Bikers Passes Senate

U.S. House and Senate introduce bills to end discrimination against motorcyclists.

Bipartisan bills have been introduced in both the U.S. House and Senate that would end health-care discrimination against motorcyclists and ATVers.

On June 8, U.S. Reps. Michael C. Burgess (R-Texas) and Ted Strickland (D-Ohio) introduced H.R. 2793, "The HIPAA Recreational Injury Technical Correction Act." This bill would bar employers from discriminating against those who take part in activities such as motorcycling, ATV riding, snowmobiling or horseback riding in the health-insurance programs they offer their workers.

"The development of this bill could not have been possible without bipartisan congressional support and the hard work of the American Motorcyclist Association," stated Burgess. "I look forward to working alongside the AMA to get this legislation passed into law."

Strickland added, "It’s shameful to allow employers to discriminate against individuals who take part in perfectly legal modes of transportation, hobbies or activities. Currently, a person injured while drinking and driving would be covered by their health insurance, but an individual who falls from a motorcycle may not. It just makes no sense."

On March 9, Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) introduced similar legislation, S. 577, "The HIPAA Recreational Injury Technical Correction Act." Last Congress, the full Senate unanimously passed similar language, however, the House adjourned shortly thereafter and therefore did not get a chance to enact this legislation. As a result, legislation needed to be re-introduced in the 109th Congress.

"What many people don’t know until it’s too late, is that currently employers health insurance providers are legally permitted to deny benefits for injuries sustained while participating in certain recreational or transportation activities such as motorcycling, snowmobiling, skiing, and horseback riding," said Collins. "This policy is unfair, and I am working with my colleagues to change it."

"From riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles to visiting the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, these activities are part of Wisconsin’s heritage and economy," Feingold said. "It simply doesn’t make sense to exclude those participating in these activities from health care benefits."

The measures are in response to action taken by federal bureaucrats that legalized health-insurance discrimination against riders and others.

In 1996, President Clinton signed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which included language prohibiting employers from denying health-care coverage based on a worker’s pre-existing medical conditions
or participation in legal activities, such as motorcycling.

In 2001, the Department of Health and Human Services released the final rules that would govern the HIPAA law. The rules recognized that employers could not refuse health-care coverage to an employee on the basis ofj their participation in a recognized legal activity. However, the agency said benefits could be denied for injuries sustained in collection with those activities. As a result, employees were guaranteed the right to health-care coverage, but not guaranteed any benefits under those plans.

The AMA was outraged, noting that when federal bureaucrats had gone against the will of Congress, and the Association immediately lobbied Congress to right this wrong. Others involved in the effort included the BlueRibbon Coalition, Motorcycle Riders Foundation, ABATE of Wisconsin, ABATE of Ohio, the American Council of Snowmobile Associations and the American Horse Council.

"We encourage AMA and ATVA members as well as all motorcyclists and ATV riders to contact members of their congressional delegations to support this important legislation," said Ed Moreland, AMA vice president for government relations.

An easy way to send letters urging members of Congress to co-sponsor this legislation
