I just got turned on to a new movie coming out:
The Island, which has been getting great reviews as a ‘fresh’ concept.
OK…I was immediately thinking "run Logan, RUN" when I saw the trailer
but it was still a fresh concept (a nice combining of Logan’s Run and
These are the Damned). However, yours truly remembered a very bad
sci-fi film that had the same premise.
Unfortunately…I was able to find it too –
Clonus (aka
Parts: The Clonus Horror).
Is this the ‘Century of Remakes’ for tinseltown?!?!?
Even the sorta fresh movies are just videogame/RPG concepts (Resident
Evil/Underworld to name a few).
Sadly, this makes
Team America: World Police the fresh blockbuster for ’04 (though not for
Trey & Matt fans like myself) with nothing on the horizon for 05 which is truly
a sad day for Hollywood.
Hollywood has even gone so far to ‘dumb down’ the picture by giving away the
climax in the trailers. Does Hollywood think we’re that stupid
now that we need to know the ‘shocker’ to go watch the movie? I guess
their idea of suspense is crap like we say in the 6th Sense (and I won’t get
started on that piece of worthless crap here).
With the time to DVD getting so fast, this may be a wait for Blockbuster
movie….
Unless my girlfriend Lynn wants to watch it on the big screen of course <smile>.
