Happy Easter!

As we all visit church, attend brunches, and hold egg hunts I just wanted to remind everyone of the “why” that we are celebrating today. Easter celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead after his death by crucifixion on Good Friday. If you’re catholic, Easter also refers to Eastertide, the season of the church year that last for nearly two months which follows Easter and ends around Pentecost.

This isn’t to take away the easter bunny, but Easter has been secularized and commercialized to the point that (like Christmas), we seem to forget the point that this actually IS a religious holiday.

Can we please MOVE ON?!?

Regarding the Terri Schiavo situation, the person I feel the most for is…..

Terri Schiavo

Why all the fuss now I wonder?  Is it to appease the Christian
voters who helped get Bush reelected?!?!?

Is this what their 30 pieces of silver buys there Judas?

In October of 2003, Terri Schiavo had her feeding tube removed by court order.
Back then the federal politicians ignored the pleas of all.  It wasn’t
until Florida Governor Jeb along with the Florida legislature acted that
"Terri’s Law" came into being which restored her feeding tube after six days.

Incidentally, that law was later struck down as unconstitutional.

Michael Schiavo (Terri’s husband) and his attorneys have been trying to end a
tragedy for himself and his wife.

It’s not that I have no sympathy for Terri, but after 15 years of no brain
activity she is in a state known as persistent vegetative state or PVS.
This state is also known as "cortical death."  It is the irreversible loss
of the part of the brain controlling judgment and reason.  Physical
functions and reflexes are intact in varying degrees, but any meaningful life is
gone.

I have witnessed death.  Even hours after a person is dead, muscles can
twitch or the body can spasm.

The human body is an incredible thing.  It is hard to kill, it is long to
die.  Our bodies will struggle on even when the fight is done.  It’s
the survival mechanisms that keep us alive and helped our ancestors through
trying times such as the ice age.

I don’t know how hard it must be for Michael to see his wife deteriorate before
his eyes.  I doubt most of us can even begin to comprehend how painful that
must be.

Also…couldn’t it really be possible that his wife did say that she wouldn’t like to live this way? I bet if you take an impromptu survey at your work, church, bar, or gym you’ll find that the stunning majority would rather die than live this way.

The "religious right" need to simply leave this in God’s good grace.  You
would think that they would actually want this to end for her as she would be
going to heaven – a place so wonderful that it is called paradise.

Then again, I’ve found most christians actually fear death. Why is that?

I doubt the ‘morally minded’ Americans will ever see this writing, but in case they do….let
God call her home.  If she has lived a christian life and is as good and pure as you
all have said, then she will be welcomed unto heaven and bask in God’s glory
where she will suffer no longer.

To the politicians trying to politicize this event you are
ROYAL BASTARDS
to use this for political ends.  We have war,
poverty, crime, ecological and education issues that you should be spending your
time and my precious tax dollars working to resolve.  I haven’t done the
math, but at my current salary rate if I spent two to seven days on something
like this a $30/hr (I might add that a rank-n-file congressman/senator makes
$76.20/hr), however these politicians didn’t just take their time alone — we
mustn’t forget their hard working staff, agencies like the government printing
office to make up copies of new legislation…ad nauseum.

Enough religion and law…this is between a husband and wife.

Thanks to all the fuss all of you (media, politicians, religious right) have turned her into a circus freak.

Congratulations.
