Laughs (at the expense of Christianity)

When I was growing up I remember people leaving horrible little comics from Chick Publications (if you’re so inclined, read the latest from Jack T. Chick: http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1011/1011_01.asp) in our mailbox in NYC.
These "little gems" are designed to let you know if you don’t repent and follow Christ RIGHT NOW, you’re gonna burn…..

Burn for eternity.

So….if you subscribe to this thinking, you probably shouldn’t go to this site:  XXX Bible:
http://www.postfun.com/pfp/NC-17Bible.html#FO
It takes actual quotes from the bible and categorizes them into various "adult" categories.

Don’t get me wrong, some of them are an interpretational STRETCH, but aren’t many of the varied Bible interpretations that are out there as well (For example the predicted times of Christ’s return in January 1, 1000, 1190, 1205, 1260, 1533, 1669, 1690, 1830, March 21, 1843 and when that failed, prophesied that Christ would come in late October, 1844, 1899, March 12, 1903 between 2:30 and 3:00 AM – no one was sure if he was referring to GMT, 1914, 1925, 1975, 1981, and 1988. 1988 was a very good year, many predicted this year — the book
"88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Occur in 1988" came out (paperback only)  to prove this fact. 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and of course 2000 even though the bible itself say we will not know — "For in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh," Matthew 24:44.)?

Some christians just take things way too seriously.

The site a great read and if you think about it you could have fun at your next church gathering!

Of course there are other more SERIOUS ways to bring you back to salvation (besides Chick scaring you into submission).

Enjoy!

Matrix: Revolutions

I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s so refreshing to see a smart story come along.  Bravo!

So I think I’ll begin where it ended for me the morning of 11/05 after watching it the first time (yes, I said the first time…I saw it twice on the first day).

At 11:30, I was at Denny’s having coffee and an animated conversation about the Matrix: Revolutions.  I can’t ever recall spending that much time after a movie in a deep philosophical discussion of plotlines.  There aren’t many movies that I have seen in my lifetime that have what I would characterize as a "three dimensional story" (one with depth).  I can only recall one sci-fi movie: ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ (and for those who have not seen this movie, go rent it and enjoy) who’s story is so poignant that more than 50 years later it’s still relevant to our lives.

The matrix series has now been added to the list.

When I watched Matrix: Reloaded, I was honestly concerned about the final movie.  The first one was brilliant, a stunning story that left you with wonderment while the second was, I hope the typical "filler" that connects the story with it’s climax, rather than a downturn as they take the story to a simplistic or two dimensional ending.  My fears were abated with
a dynamic plot and excellent tale.

Oh…the special effects were good too.

I’d love to say more but we’re setting up a Matrix party to talk about the movies and discuss the story in depth.  An hour over coffee wasn’t enough.

A movie that leaves you thinking well after you see it, that assumes you’re intelligent enough to handle a smart story.

To quote Neo…."Woah."

Brutal? Not necessarily…..

It’s best if you read the situation for yourself then read my thoughts:

http://www.michaelhanscom.com/eclecticism/2003/10/of_blogging_and.html

*******************

Originally I thought it was brutal, but after rereading his BLOG, I don’t think so anymore.

It’s simple. He (as a contractor) ridiculed M$. It’d be like you working for Sears wearing an J.C. Penny’s shirt to a TV interview about working at Sears. Wudi (our old nickname for him) should have known better.  These guys have more lawyers then Sun Microsystems!

He might have just as well sprayed "windows sucks, get a mac" on a wall somewhere on the campus.

Should they have had him removed, I don’t think so.  Unfortunately, most contractors have a “for the good of <name your firm>” clause that allows the contracting firm to remove any contractor that is disruptive to the organization (and usually
without giving a reason).

As one of our mutual friends said….

What I thought was brutal was that it’s a shame. Yah, Wudi should have known better, but he’s never worked for a company of that size. Innocence and naivety should be given some weight. He’ll never do it again, and knowing him, this has made him a better person.

I particularly like the statement one guy made, that he’s better off because he will land a new job, and he’s got a cool story.

Still a shame that wudi’s out of work. Bummer.

My only contention with M$ is that if it were that serious, they should have demanded he take the site down.

I still stand beside Wudi, no doubt there. He’ll come throught this on top….

he always does….
